Old Encore files. Open again.

Otra Rescue turns .enc files into MusicXML and MIDI that MuseScore, Dorico, Sibelius and Finale open with the notes, rhythms, lyrics and chords already right. Most open on the first try; if yours doesn't, we fix it or refund you. Your files stay on your computer.

When it opens

When it works on your real files.

Not a day before, and no dates until then. Leave your email and we'll tell you that day.

01 — How it works

Drop a folder. Download a ZIP.

Nothing to install and no account to make. Open the page, drop your scores, and they convert while you watch.

Step 01

Drop

One file, several files or a whole folder of Encore scores, onto the page or through the file picker. Folders keep their structure.

Step 02

Check

Each file converts at once, on your computer. Click one to see its pages. A report lists anything to check, by file, page and measure.

Step 03

Download

One file free, or the whole folder as a ZIP with each score's MusicXML beside its MIDI and the report at the top.

02 — What comes through

No editing.
No remapping.

Encore's .enc format is read by nothing else, and Encore exports no MusicXML. Rescue reads the files directly, with a reader written from real scores, and writes MusicXML 4.0 that opens with nothing to fix.

When something doesn't

The report says where. One click sends it to us as a fix request, with the file only if you tick the box. We open every converted file in MuseScore, and the test set grows with every file people send.

  • Every note, rest, chord, tie and tuplet, in every voice, at its written value.
  • Clefs, keys and time signatures, pickups, repeats, endings, D.C., D.S. and codas.
  • Dynamics, articulations, slurs, hairpins, octave lines, pedal marks and glissandi.
  • Lyrics, chord symbols, tempo marks, text, and the title page.
  • Instruments mapped to General MIDI sounds, and drum parts to the right drum sounds.
  • Guitar tablature with its tuning and frets.
  • Encore's page setup and its line and page breaks, so the layout survives.
  • Courtesy accidentals, grace notes, chant bars and codas, as Encore printed them.

Your scores never leave your computer.
