Your files come with you.
MusicXML carries editable notation between applications. MIDI carries performance data. PDF preserves a readable page. Keep your original files and check imported scores: application-specific layout and playback settings may need adjustment.
For Finale, export MusicXML from an existing installation before moving the score. Otra’s Finale workflow explains the steps. Finale sales and development ended in 2024; technical support ended in 2025.
